lesions (brain): Damaged brain tissue, often resulting from the disease processes found in dementia disorders.
lethargy: A symptom characterized by slow reactions and inactivity.
Lewy-Body Dementia: Lewy-Body Dementia is the result of atypical protein buildup, called Lewy-bodies, in the brain.
memory loss: Forgetfulness or loss of memories beyond what is normal for most people, often caused by degenerative brain diseases.
meningitis: The inflammation of the meninges, the layers that surround the brain and spinal cord.
myoclonus: A symptom of dementia in which muscles twitch or jerk involuntarily.
neuroimaging: Mapping the structure or function of the brain by using technologies such as CT, CAT, PET, SPECT, MRI, and FMRI.
neuroleptic drugs: Drugs designed to reduce the effects and symptoms of dementia, such as hallucinations, confusion, delusion, and motor problems.
neurological disorder: A disorder or disease that affects the nervous system.
normal-pressure hypocephalus: An increase in the pressure of the fluids (cerebrospinal fluid) in the central nervous system resulting from a blockage in the path of the fluid flow.
